Easy-Tutor has raised a six-figure sum in a seed funding round. The Munich-based startup has developed an online tutoring and learning platform for school and university students. Easy-Tutor aims to flexibly connect professional tutors and students.
Long commutes, inflexible scheduling, and little room for spontaneous learning — in-person tutoring with highly qualified tutors hasn't truly arrived in the digital age yet. The Munich-based EdTech startup ("Educational Technology") Easy-Tutor wants to change that. With a six-figure seed financing round, in which Bayern Kapital, among others, participated, the platform is to be optimized and its offerings further expanded.
The Munich-based startup was founded in early 2017 and currently has around 15 employees. On the online tutoring platform, students, pupils, and their parents can flexibly select a tutor from over 500 active tutors at short notice and regardless of location, and book them directly for online lessons at the desired time.
Tutoring for young football players
Easy-Tutor currently offers online tutoring in around 20 subjects. All tutors are pre-screened by the Munich-based startup for qualifications and teaching skills. A rating system and an anonymous evaluation tool for tutors, students, and parents are designed to ensure the long-term quality of the virtual one-on-one tutoring.
According to Easy-Tutor, more than 2,000 students currently use the service. The platform plans to continue growing, including through collaborations with institutions and clubs. The youth departments of several football clubs, such as FC Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, and Fortuna Düsseldorf, already rely on online tutoring for their young players.
The human factor is a decisive motivator
Massimo Cancellara, Managing Director of Easy-Tutor, says:
"The human factor is a crucial motivator in the learning process. Especially for children and adolescents, the opportunity to learn directly from others should always be available. We have pursued this idea at Easy-Tutor from the very beginning. With the support of our investors, we can further optimize the platform and expand our range of offerings to make this type of learning available to even more students in the future."
Roman Huber, Managing Director of Bayern Kapital, explains:
"In the coming years, the entire education system will increasingly have to engage with the digitalization of learning. Easy-Tutor presents itself as an innovative solution concept for all students and parents in the tutoring market, as it combines flexibility in terms of time and location, digital and interactive learning, and professionalism. Because the Easy-Tutor team combines industry experience with entrepreneurial expertise, and the platform already has numerous satisfied customers, Easy-Tutor is a highly attractive investment in the digital education sector for us."
