Innovations for seniors: Senovation Award 2020

For the third time, the Senovation Award is seeking innovations suitable for seniors. The two winners will receive prize money of €5,000 each. Applications are possible until June 30, 2020.

The Senovation Award is aimed at startups from the pre-foundation phase up to a maximum of three years old. The age of the founders is irrelevant: From students to experts with decades of professional experience, everyone is welcome to participate. According to the organizers, possible submissions include a navigation system for visually impaired pedestrians, a laundry service for those in need of care, or regional, sustainable meals on wheels. Submitted ideas don't necessarily have to be aimed exclusively at seniors, but can also target cross-generational users. Examples include wearables and e-bikes.

Senovation Award: A total of 10,000 euros in prize money for the winners

Christine Weiss, Head of Innovation and Cooperation at VDI/VDE Innovation+Technik, has joined the award as a new jury member. She says:

"In start-up and SME support, innovations for older people still don't play the role they should, given demographic trends. The Senovation Award focuses on product ideas for older people and thus plays an important role for Germany as a center of innovation."

The two winning teams will each receive prize money of 5,000 euros and coaching for one year.
