Apple plans new location in Munich

After Google announced at the end of last year that it would acquire the Munich Post Palace and employ 1,500 additional employees there, Apple is now following suit and significantly expanding its presence in Munich.

Apple already employs 300 engineers from 40 countries at its Bavarian Design Center in Munich. Süddeutsche Zeitung According to reports, the Cupertino-based technology giant plans to significantly expand its Munich office. The company plans to move into the "Karl" office building, currently under construction on the former Mahag site on Karlstraße, with 1,500 employees after its scheduled completion in 2021. According to information from the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the Californians have fully leased the building, which has 30,000 square meters of floor space. Munich's economic advisor, Clemens Baumgärtner, has already commented on the planned Apple location in Munich. He told the Süddeutsche Zeitung:

"I'm pleased that Apple is expanding its Munich site. This will secure and create high-quality jobs in our city."

Apple CEO Tim Cook: “Munich is a great city”

Apple's commitment to Munich is not entirely surprising. Tim Cook visited the Oktoberfest last year and gave the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung an interview. In it, the Apple CEO raved about the Bavarian metropolis:

"When you move around Munich, you can feel that it's a great city, that people enjoy living here. Not everyone with a good developer education wants to live in Silicon Valley. I can't imagine a better place."

"We can employ a team here that we couldn't assemble anywhere else in the world. We find talent here that we wouldn't find anywhere else. We have the utmost interest in this location."
