Last week, 13 startups from Sweden, Finland, Italy, and Germany presented their ideas in short pitches at the Energy Digital Innovation Forum at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft's Munich conference center. The event was aimed at the energy, housing, and mobility industries. Ultimately, a Munich-based startup emerged victorious.
The 2019 Energy Digital Innovation Award, endowed with €5,000, goes to Gridx. Founded in 2016, the startup offers various white-label solutions for digitizing energy infrastructure. With its digital platform, the Munich-based company aims to support IoT projects and new business models. Successfully implemented solutions include "Smart Charging," "Independent Homes," "Smart Commercial," and "Microgrids."
Digital Innovation Forum seeks future-oriented solutions
The Innovation Forum organized the Munich Innovation Network Munich Network. Its managing director Curt Winnen says:
"This year's Energy Digital Innovation Forum has once again demonstrated that digitalization is completely erasing the boundaries of our 'old' industrial and economic sectors. The major challenges of our time, the future of mobility and energy supply, can only be solved if both established corporations and startups successfully collaborate to advance new solutions for CO2-neutral energy supply and emission-free mobility."
Munich Network was founded in 1984 on the initiative of Munich-based companies. The association has made a name for itself as a matchmaker between medium-sized businesses and startups. Its members include major corporations such as Airbus, Bosch, Infineon, MAN, and Siemens, as well as numerous medium-sized companies and research institutions such as Fraunhofer and the Max Planck Society.
