The newly created XR Hub Munich was created to promote topics such as virtual reality (VR) and extended reality (XR) and their use for companies.
Small and medium-sized enterprises, in particular, can use new technologies like VR and XR. However, not many companies yet understand exactly how this works. To change this, the XR Hub Bavaria has now opened in Munich. Further hubs of this kind will soon follow in Nuremberg and Würzburg.
XR Hub Munich aims to bring more VR to Bavarian companies
The Bavarian Digital Minister Judith Gerlach commented:
"To demonstrate the concrete added value and reduce barriers, we are now creating XR Hubs across Bavaria. With a total of 1.5 million euros per year, we are supporting the further development of extended reality while simultaneously enabling concrete applications in business."
In mid-October, the Minister for Digital Affairs presented the first funding approval for the XR Hub Munich. The hub helps companies better understand the practical applications of VR: from the visualization of new products to realistic training and continuing education to remote maintenance of machines and systems.
Impulses for immersive media innovation
The XR Hub Munich is part of 'Medien Bayern' and, alongside the Media Days, the Media Network Bavaria, and Media Lab Bayern, now forms the fourth pillar of the institution. The program is also supported by the Bavarian State Office for New Media (BLM). This is intended to generate new impetus for immersive media productions.
