World Food Programme seeks startups for Innovation Challenge

The World Food Programme's (WFP) Innovation Challenge is seeking tech startups that offer solutions to solve food problems and alleviate hunger worldwide. Anyone interested in contributing their ideas to the mission #zerohunger can apply until October 31, 2019.

Startups that develop promising solutions to alleviate hunger worldwide will receive funding through the Innovation Challenge of the World Food Programme (WFP) Access to financing, practical support and a large WFP network of partners and technical experts.

We are looking for bold ideas on the following topics:

  • Linking humanitarian development and peace,
  • emergency measures,
  • supply chains.
  • A “wildcard” is given to ideas that aim to win the fight against hunger in a revolutionary way.

How do startups benefit from the World Food Programme’s Innovation Challenge?

The winning team will be invited to the Innovation Bootcamp in Munich in February 2020. They will also receive up to 100,000 US dollars in funding, hands-on support and access to the WFP-Network with expert knowledge from mentors and partners as well as training.

Only companies already operating in the market, whether for-profit or non-profit, are eligible to participate. The innovation must have at least a minimum viable product (MVP). Proof of concept and initial sales are desirable. The application must also clearly demonstrate how the collaboration with the WFP supports the company's long-term strategy.
