Crashtest Security and TÜV Süd are joining forces. The Munich-based startup, which has developed an automated SaaS solution for vulnerability assessments of web applications, plans to work with TÜV Süd to test its application under real-world conditions and, if necessary, further optimize it.
IT security is a key issue for many companies. Not only hacker attacks, but also legislation—the European General Data Protection Regulation, for example—is forcing companies whose core competencies lie beyond IT to address this issue. One way to protect themselves against attacks is to regularly check their own web applications for vulnerabilities and targets. However, many companies struggle to find suitable personnel to conduct this vulnerability assessment.
This is where Crashtest Security comes in. Its automated vulnerability analysis is designed to facilitate the remediation of vulnerabilities with the help of accurate reporting.
“In the future, it will be impossible not to rely on automation”
The new partnership with TÜV Süd is intended to contribute to making this solution more suitable for everyday use and to continuously improve it. And what benefits does TÜV Süd expect from this? Among other things, the Crashtest Security Suite identifies vulnerabilities such as command injection holes in a fraction of the time it would have taken manual testers.
"In the future, it will be impossible not to rely on automation. Due to digitalization, new business models, Industry 4.0, and many other trends, vast numbers of new web applications and APIs will be launched online in the coming years, all of which will need to be audited. The only way to ensure long-term security is to implement DevSecOps practices—the connection between development, security, and operations. Our solution helps make DevOps more secure and implement security in agile development from the very beginning (DevSecOps). The partnership with TÜV SÜD offers us a perfect platform to test our solution and further develop it with valuable feedback."
