Presize wants to solve the returns problem with a video approach

The Munich startup Presize aims to solve the returns problem of online fashion stores. The company has developed an AI-powered, browser-based solution designed to determine shoppers' correct size.

1. Who are you and what do you do?

We are Leon, Tomislav, and Awais, and we founded Presize in 2019. We have very different professional backgrounds (Biomedical Computing, Consumer Science Robotics & AI), studied in different countries (UK, USA, Germany, Pakistan), and also come from different countries (Bulgaria, Pakistan, and Germany). CDTM Luckily, we met anyway. There, we worked together on several digital innovation projects. The idea for Presize was born in one of these projects. We help online fashion stores reduce returns by suggesting the right size to users. Users simply spin around in front of their smartphone camera (while clothed) and receive size recommendations for every product on the website or a perfectly fitting, tailor-made garment.

2. But that's been around for a long time!

Our unique video approach allows us to achieve measurement accuracy comparable to that of a professional tailor. We have developed a technology (patent pending) that allows us to create a 3D model of the body and extract body measurements from it. Our competitors, who use questionnaire plug-ins or photo apps, fail to map the individual body, meaning the measurements are less accurate and less robust. Furthermore, we are a web app, while our competitors rely on mobile apps, meaning no download is required because our technology is browser-based.

3. What are the three main ingredients for your recipe for success?

Radical focus on the product and user feedback as well as a strong, international team.

4. Let’s get down to business: How is business going?

Two months after our founding, we already have five paying customers, one of whom is the market leader in its segment and generates several billion euros in sales.

5. What does Munich mean to you?

Munich is an ideal location for a B2B software startup. It boasts a large number of large companies, access to highly qualified tech professionals, and a strong ecosystem, including the UnternehmerTUM and CDTM.

6. How will your startup become the next unicorn? Or will we see you soon at Epic Fail Night?

The global online fashion market is worth almost €400 billion and continues to grow. The return rate is 50 percent. We're confident that the startup that solves this problem will become a unicorn.

7. Hiking or beer garden?

Hiking. Doesn't rule out a beer break!
