The business magazine Capital has honored the best German digital labs in various categories. The Munich-based Digilabs ProSiebenSat.1 Accelerator as well as Wayra Germany ranked 1st and 3rd in the “Innovation Scaling” category.
As part of the study "Corporations on the trail of startups 2019: The rocky road to substantial digital innovation" by the strategy and management consultancy Infront Consulting & Management and the business magazine Capital, the best German digital labs have now been selected for the third time in a row.
3rd edition of the study
A total of 50 digital labs participated in the study. They could apply for one of the three development stages examined:
- Innovation discovery: The path to promising ideas and concepts
- Innovation development: Implementation into tested prototypes & pilots
- Innovation scaling: Successful commercialization in the market
All participating units were required to assess their success in an online questionnaire. Validation interviews were also conducted with operational managers.
These are the best German digital labs
Six digital labs were recognized in each of the three categories. Three industrial companies and three service labs each received an award. In the innovation discovery category, the Audi Denkwerkstatt took first place in the industrial company category, and the SAP Innovation Center Network won in the service lab category. In the innovation development category, the industrial company Viessman Wattx and the service lab EnBW Innovation took first place. Furthermore, the Qiagen Digital Accelerator impressed in the innovation scaling category. Among the service labs in this category, the accelerator Wayra Deutschland, which is based in Munich, took third place behind the Prosiebensat.1 Accelerator and Hapag-Lloyd Digital Business Transfer.
