Virtual reality games on long-distance buses—this idea could soon become standard on every bus at Flixbus. The Munich-based mobility startup is currently testing the use of virtual reality (VR) in the USA.
A route that is as straight as possible to avoid dizziness or similar, VR headsets from Pico Interactive and around 50 virtual reality games and travel experiences — tested with this mixture Flixbus is currently testing the use of VR in its coaches. The VR concept is currently being tested on long-haul routes to and from Las Vegas. Travelers who reserve a panoramic seat on one of these routes can test the new VR feature free of charge. Flixbus plans to use the system for a period of three months to determine how its customers respond to the new onboard technology.
Using virtual reality against strong competition
Flixbus has been active in the USA since May 2018In contrast to the European market, the Munich-based company faces strong competition here, such as the traditional company Greyhound.
Against this background, the potential use of new technologies such as VR also serves to differentiate oneself from the competition and to convince the demanding — and often tech-savvy — US customers.
