Zeuz raises €3 million in seed funding from Vito Ventures and Holtzbrinck Ventures. The Munich-based startup offers technology specialized in multiplayer games.
Zeuz provides the infrastructure for multiplayer games for over 50 million players annually in more than 50 countries. Previously, the founders had been active in the game server business for 15 years with their brand Gportal. The team has grown to become the world's leading provider of game servers, including for games such as Conan Exiles, SCUM, and Farming Simulator. With the newly founded Zeus, the team is now also offering its services in the B2B sector. The technology developed by the Munich-based company is said to enable significantly higher clock speeds compared to conventional cloud solutions, making it more powerful while simultaneously saving up to 60 percent in costs. Established studios such as Funcom and Snail Games, as well as indie developers such as Gamepires and The Farm 51, are already relying on Zeuz technology.
“IT infrastructure for multiplayer games and their global scaling is not part of the core competency of most game studios — this prevents them from concentrating on what they are really interested in: developing great content,”
explains co-founder and managing director Markus Schneider.
In addition, the startup notes that cloud solutions cost enormous sums and often lead to financing problems after the games are released. Schneider says:
"We offer studios a solution that allows them to save money and, above all, technical resources. All while delivering higher quality and the best possible multiplayer experience."
Zeuz investors: “The team is excellent”
Tommy Oehl, Managing Partner of Vito Ventures, says:
"We're thrilled with what Zeuz has already accomplished. The team is outstanding, and the technology is certainly capable of conquering more than just the games market."
Holtzbrinck Partner Christian Saller adds:
"The global video game market has been growing for years and is worth billions of dollars. Zeuz's technology is incredibly valuable to the industry and can significantly improve the experience for players and developers. We are delighted to support this experienced team."
