Munich exits and cooperations of medium-sized companies and startups

When startups and large partners from industry or SMEs join forces, both benefit from fresh innovations and expanded resources. The current BayStartUP newsletter reports five startup successes from Munich.

Orcan Energy: Growth financing for the cleantech company

The Munich Cleantech companies Orcan Energy has a new Financing round completed and was converted into a public limited company. Aliad, the venture capital arm of the Air Liquide Group, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare, is one of the investors.

The financing round, which also included existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers (KPCB), Wellington Partners, and E.ON, also included the participation of the Swiss investment firm Quadia, which specializes in environmental financing. Orcan Energy develops modules for generating electricity from waste heat and was awarded a prize in the 2008 Munich Business Plan Competition.

DyeMansion: EOS founder invests in dye solution for 3D printing

In the growing market for 3D printing, EOS a global market leader. The founder of the Munich-based company is now involved in the startup DyeMansion, which has developed a dyeing solution for the 3D printing industry. Celonis: SAP pushes the startup with Big Data software

Celonis was accepted into the HANA Startup Focus program and won the SAP HANA Innovation Award. Azubiyo: Funke Media Group buys the apprentice-company matching platform

The Munich startup Azubiyo, a matching platform for apprentices and job openings, has successfully completed a successful exit with the Funke Media Group. The media company is focusing specifically on startups to secure long-term revenues in the digital classified advertising business, it said regarding the acquisition of Azubiyo. Azubiyo was founded in 2009 and took advantage of the Munich Business Plan Competition and the BayStartUP Coaching.

Locumi successfully sells parcel bag division to Burg-Wächter

The Munich-based startup Locumi has sold its parcel bag division to the family-owned company Burg-Wächter. The parcel bags offer online shoppers the option of having their packages safely delivered to their doorstep. Burg-Wächter plans to develop a successor product. Locumi will focus on an innovative technology for keyless access in apartment buildings. The Locumi team plans to present the new product to the public in October with a Kickstarter campaign.
