Octimine researches intellectual property databases. Now the Luxembourg-based Dennemeyer Group the Munich startup.
A spin-off of LMU Munich and the Max Planck Institute, Octimine has developed patent research and analysis software. The startup targets technology companies, patent law firms, research institutes, inventors, and investors. They can use the software to quickly and accurately analyze and research existing patents. Now, the Luxembourg-based company Dennemeyer has acquired the Munich-based company for an undisclosed amount.
Opposite WirtschaftsWoche founder said co-founder Matthias Pötzl, the sale came about rather “as a surprise”.
“We were on the way to shaping the future ourselves – but that would have taken longer in our industry,”
said Pötzl. Only in last year The company was able to raise millions of euros from Bayern Kapital and several business angels.
Brand name Octimine remains
Pötzl's co-founder Michael Natterer says:
"We are fully convinced that Dennemeyer, with its owner-managed organization, fast decision-making processes, entrepreneurial culture, and long-term orientation, is a perfect fit for us."
Octimine will now be integrated into Dennemeyer's existing international service offering. The brand name will remain.
