50 million euros for German impact startups

The Munich VC Ananda Impact Ventures is raising €50 million for its third fund, providing fresh capital for pioneering impact startups focusing on important social issues such as health and education.

Ananda Impact Ventures invests in companies that provide answers to pressing societal challenges such as health, education, sustainable consumption, and senior living. The active portfolio includes, for example, Auticon, which offers IT consulting by people with autism; the Munich-basedCompany Bike Solutions, a provider of leasing bicycles via salary conversion, and also the Munich-based startup VerbaVoice, which makes written and sign language interpreters easily available online.

The Ananda Impact Ventures team is now pleased to have raised €50 million in fresh capital for its third fund since its inception. In addition to existing investors, the venture capital firm also welcomed new investors such as the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt and the British "impact" giant Big Society Capital.

The new fund will invest in approximately 20 European impact companies in proven sectors. The first five investments have already been made: Careship and Talea, as well as HomeTouch, MobileJob, and Raremark. Ananda's advisory board is also expanding. In addition to proven experts such as Dr. Christian Saller and Dr. Thomas Jetter, Diana Meyel is joining the team.
