Media Lab Bayern has found a location in Ansbach

The second Bavarian Media Lab in Ansbach near Nuremberg is taking shape. A location in the city center has already been found. The first projects are scheduled to begin in early 2019.

The new Media Lab in Northern Bavaria aims to build on the success of its Munich model and promote media innovation. Following a resolution by the Bavarian Council of Ministers in June, the premises in Ansbach's city center have now been unveiled. The Media Lab shares the 400-square-meter store with media projects at the local university. The premises are currently being renovated, and a site manager is being sought.

Media Lab Ansbach “a blueprint for further locations”

The new Media Lab will primarily host entrepreneurship programs for students who want to try out their first innovative ideas in the media sector. Lina Timm, Management of the Media Lab Bayern in Munich, says:

"We can experiment with a new concept in Ansbach, introducing young talent to startups while they're still studying and working with them on their ideas. This will allow Bavaria to develop a unique concept for nurturing more startups in the media sector. Ansbach could even serve as a blueprint for other locations."

Siegfried Schneider, President of the Bavarian State Office for New Media, says:

"The success story of Media Lab Bayern is now being continued in northern Bavaria with the second location in Ansbach. Bavaria is also supporting founders with great ideas and innovative projects outside of Munich in order to further expand its pioneering role in the field of digitalization."

The new Media Lab will contribute to this, said Schneider, and strengthen Bavaria as a media location.
