EIT Digital Challenge: 5 Munich startups among the TOP25

Five startups from the Munich area have made it onto the shortlist of the EIT Digital Challenge: audEERING, Blickfeld, IDnow, Toposens and VISCOPICThe startups can thus count themselves among the 25 best deep-tech innovations in Europe.

For the fifth consecutive year, the EIT Digital Challenge is searching for the best European deep tech technologies. Deep tech refers to highly complex technologies based on scientific research or technical innovations that fuel digital transformation. Growth-stage startups – so-called scaleups – were invited to apply in five categories: Digital Cities, Digital Industry, Digital Infrastructure, Digital Wellbeing, and Digital Finance. The winners will receive prizes totaling €750,000.

“We selected the scaleups very carefully based on their technology, a compelling business model and rapid growth,”

says Dominik Krabbe, EIT Digital Challenge Lead.

“Now we are looking forward to meeting the finalists in the final round and learning more about the five scaleups from Munich.”

Growth support & prize money

The final round will take place on October 18, 2018, in Brussels. audEERING, Blickfeld, IDnow, Toposens, and Viscopic will have the chance to compete against a total of 20 other scaleups from eleven European countries before an international jury of experts.

The winners in each category will receive a prize package worth €100,000. This package consists of a full year of growth support from the EIT Digital Accelerator worth €50,000 and a cash prize of €50,000.
