Today our 7 questions go to UnicornPitch, the Munich-based startup that helps other startups refine their pitch decks. The founders Felix HaasDennis von Ferenczy and Robin Yoshida are a proven team. The startup has now grown to over 20 employees and has already broken even with its specialized service. Marius Wolf, Head of Marketing & Growth, answered our questions.
1. Who are you and what do you do?
UnicornPitch is a flexible and transparent design and content service that supports startups in creating and optimizing essential materials to make them more successful in all phases of their business development. This currently includes design and content services for pitch decks, company & sales presentations, master slides, infographics, and one-pagers or brochures.
In the two years since our founding, the team around our founders Felix Haas, Dennis von Ferenczy, and Robin Yoshida has grown to nearly two dozen employees. Founded in early 2016, our client base now includes well over 1,500 startups from Europe/DACH, the US, and Asia. And most importantly: Customer satisfaction is at 94%!
2. But that's been around for a long time!

Yes, it's either bad (through freelancers) or expensive (agencies), and above all, it's not specifically tailored to the needs of startups. At UnicornPitch, every client is supported by a dedicated account manager and informed about every step of the process. Furthermore, we always work with an NDA, and with our pitch deck experience, we can deliver added value that no freelancer or agency can.
3. What are the three main ingredients for your recipe for success?
1) Quality of the product
2) Focus on the core business
3) Think user-centric
4. Let’s get down to business: How is business going?
This much can be revealed: Break-even has already been cracked 😉
5. What does Munich mean to you?
We have the advantage that our founders and investors are from Munich, which means we have excellent connections within the scene. Being based in Munich is a definite advantage for us as a company. Not to mention the great beer, the mountains, and the culture.
The secret: Recognize connections and react quickly
6. How will your startup become the next unicorn? Or will we see you soon at Epic Fail Night?
We're constantly reinventing ourselves. The secret lies in recognizing connections and reacting quickly. Specifically, this involves the company's KPIs. We conduct extensive testing (both online A/B and of our structures and internal processes) and implement changes immediately when we notice that measures are working and leading to improved performance. In general, we highly recommend that every founder or startup set clear OKRs on a monthly basis and implement them consistently.
7. Pork knuckle or fish on a stick?
Pork knuckle, of course 😛
