The Munich-based startup Airgreets is taking over the subletting of private apartments via Airbnb. Private investors and family offices are now providing the company with one million euros for further growth.
Anyone who wants to sublet their apartment through portals like Airbnb has a lot of work to do: From photographing the apartment for the listing to handing over the keys upon arrival to cleaning after the guests leave. Airgreets takes care of these tedious tasks and charges a quarter of the rental income as commission.
The Munich-based company has thus arranged 10,000 overnight stays since summer 2016. More precisely: Just under a year ago, the founders told us that they had managed “well over 1,000 nights” up to that point. In the last 11 months alone, the startup has managed around 9,000 overnight stays.
With their concept, the founders have now convinced private investors and family offices to provide a financial injection of one million euros. The startup intends to invest primarily in marketing. WirtschaftsWoche founder The company targets frequent travelers, consultants, pilots and cabin crew, artists, and regular vacationers. Co-founder Sebastian Drescher tells the magazine:
“With our product, we reach a target group that would not be able to engage in home sharing without us.”
Airgreets plans to launch additional platforms
Airgreets is also working on making its services more efficient, says Drescher:
“We will always retain an analog component, but we are of course working on digitalization and automation to further reduce manual processes.”
The Munich-based company wants to avoid too close a relationship with the market leader Airbnb. Drescher says the relationship is good and cooperative. However, other sites that offer rooms or vacation rentals could also be added in the future. The company is by no means dependent on Airbnb.
