The Tech5 Award seeks the fastest-growing startup in Germany and Europe. The winners from each country will receive an invitation to TNW Europe on May 24, 2018. Startups less than five years old can apply until March 1.
The Tech5 Award is being presented for the fifth time. Last year, Bragi A Munich-based startup took the podium as the winner for Germany. A total of eight unicorns are now among the Tech5 alumni, including Transferwise and Deliveroo.
Why should Munich startups apply?
In Germany Maximilian von der Ahé, CEO and founder of Berlin's betahaus, will support the evaluation as a so-called 'Country Ambassador.' We asked him why Munich-based startups should apply for the Tech5 Award:
“Anyone who applies here demonstrates the enormous development their company has undergone and can present themselves alongside the best other European teams at one of the most exciting and largest tech conferences.
As a strong business location, Munich's startup scene offers exciting talent."
We also asked Maximilian von der Ahé what founders and startups can expect from the award. He says:
“They can introduce themselves and their product to a global audience, network, and have a good time in Amsterdam.”
Even more good reasons to apply: The finalists of recent years have raised over ten billion euros in additional funding. The average growth rate of the German Tech5 finalists over the past four years was 3130.62 million euros. This is almost twice as high as that of the other participating countries.
How are the growth champions determined?
Based on the sales figures of the last two years, the startup high-flyers in the UK, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, France, and Sweden will be determined. All national winners will receive an invitation to the grand finale at the The Next Web (TNW) Conference Europe on May 24, 2018 in Amsterdam.
Startups founded since 2013 are eligible to apply. In addition to company information, sales figures are particularly important. These figures will, of course, be treated confidentially and used only as a basis for decision-making.
