Five health insurance companies have partnered to launch "Healthy Hub" to advance digitalization in healthcare. Startup ideas will be tested in direct market trials. Digital health startups can apply until December 5th.

There are ideas – but also a lot of regulation
Health apps or digital therapies There are a few, but startups are often held back by the demanding requirements of the German healthcare industry. The highly regulated market also makes access to venture capital and capital difficult. This is where the Healthy Hub comes in. Certainly not entirely altruistic, given that the insurance companies themselves are also under some pressure to act.
Healthy Hub for faster market entry into the healthcare industry
In order to test the startup products or services in the direct environment of the statutory health insurance, five health insurance companies have joined forces. Healthy Hub Starting in early 2018, the health insurance companies will help five selected startups establish themselves in the healthcare market. The pilot projects are scheduled to run for a total of twelve months.
Who is the Healthy Hub looking for?
Startups in the eHealth sector that develop digital, end-customer-oriented solutions and aim to obtain reimbursement from health insurance companies are eligible to apply. The product should be market-ready. Since the Hub program is not tied to a specific location, companies can continue to operate from their current location.
After the application deadline, a jury will select 15 finalists, who will compete at the pitch event in Berlin in early 2018. There, the five participants will be chosen and each assigned to a health insurance company. Following market testing and project evaluation, a non-exclusive follow-up contract is possible. Legal advice and mentoring are also offered in the program; equity participation is excluded.
