Urban Farming Munich takes root

A contribution from Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship

Just as every plant has its origin in a usually tiny seed, Urban Farming Munich grew from the small nucleus of a student initiative at the Munich University of Applied Sciences.

What began in the summer semester of 2013 as part of a Real Project at Strascheg Center for Entrepreneurship has taken root over the years and is now growing in the form of Urban Farming Munich as ambitious startup the first flowers. At the time, they were looking for ideas and concepts in the field of urban farming. Ideas have become products ready for series production, and a project has become a company.

Urban Farming: “The fun of growing your own food”

“Design meets upcycling” sums up the basic idea of Urban Farming Munich: "We want to bring inexpensive consumer goods like stackable pallets into a design context and thus give them a new, aesthetic function. We want to offer our customers products that impress with good design and functionality, while always remaining affordable. In this way, we can enable everyone to become an urban farmer, experience the joy of growing their own produce, and thus develop a more conscious and sustainable approach to food," explains founder Volker Glück.
