“Success is based on collaboration” – Questions at… Burda Bootcamp!

The Burda Bootcamp describes itself as a "startup lab" for young founders. With its Startup Night, Hack Day, and Summer School, the bootcamp offers several opportunities for startups to take big steps through mentoring, networking, and investor contacts. Kaia Health, baristina or JobNinja had already emerged as winners of the Startup Night and were placed in the three-month mentoring program.

Please introduce yourselves briefly!

The Burda Bootcamp team is an interdisciplinary team consisting of Natalia, Julian, Patrick, and Florian. Our mission as the Burda Bootcamp team is to provide early-stage startups and prospective founders with advice and support, as well as to encourage them. At the same time, we strive to provide a home for the Munich startup scene with events and meetups.

Burda Bootcamp: Support for Early Stage Startups

Our program for young startups offers office space and room for ideas in the Burda Bootcamp.

Space for ideas, space for startups – here at the Burda Bootcamp Startup Night.

The idea of collaborating with startups is a long-standing tradition for Hubert Burda Media, having maintained close ties with national and international startups for almost 20 years. Supporting these startups during their development is now the next step.

What do you focus on when working with startups?

Of course, as a team, we're always available to support startups with tips and advice, but we also strive to empower teams to help themselves and thus ensure their survival. Often, we can best help teams by providing contacts and contacts so they can benefit from our network.

Resistance to frustration as an ingredient for success

“To be successful, a startup must…”

… have a well-functioning team that pursues the same goal and is resistant to frustration.

Why does a good startup need you behind them?

Success in most areas is based on collaboration, and to achieve that, you first need to know who you can work with. That's why you need contacts.

Mentoring is part of the Burda Bootcamp program.

As an established media company and advertising partner of almost all German companies, we have an extensive network and the right contact for every startup.

But as an interdisciplinary team, we are also a great contact for startups, as we can not only give them tips for their next Facebook campaign or business plan, but also provide assistance with technical problems.

Pivot? Or stay with it?

What is the biggest mistake a startup can make?

Not knowing when to hold on and when to pivot.

The trend of the year is…!

AI first.

Munich startup scene: Everyone helps everyone

What characteristics make the Munich startup scene so special?

The Munich scene is generally very tech-driven, which is especially evident in the startups, meetups, and events. Furthermore, the Munich scene is a village; everyone knows and helps each other.

Last but not least: Who do startups approach when they want to talk to you?

Of course, we're always available via the usual channels. However, you can also speak to us in person at one of our events or at one of our numerous meetups.
