For the second time, enterprising scientists, founders and startups are invited to apply for the ACHEMA Founders' Prize to apply. Concepts from the fields of chemistry, process engineering, and biotechnology can still be submitted until July 31st in the current second phase. The finalists have the unique opportunity to present themselves to an international expert audience at ACHEMA 2018. Three overall winners will also each receive prize money of 10,000 euros.
The chemical industry is a driving force for innovation in numerous other sectors. Innovations in chemistry, process engineering, and biotechnology can fundamentally improve technologies and products across the board. Yet the number of start-ups in these areas is low. To support good ideas, access to experienced mentors and the opportunity to network are considered at least as important as financial considerations.

Therefore, the German Society for Chemical Apparatus Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (DECHEMA), the Business Angels FrankfurtRheinMain and the High-Tech Founders Fund to the next "Exhibition for Chemical Apparatus Engineering — ACHEMA for short — is awarding a founders’ prize for the second time.
Idea generators and company founders can now apply. All topics covered at ACHEMA 2018 are eligible—from plant engineering to industrial biotechnology.
The competition runs in three phases, similar to the Munich business plan competition – ideas could be submitted until 31.3.2017, Until 31.7.2017, concepts can now be be presented. In the third part — by November 31, 2017 — applicants submit their business plans.
Especially in the early stages of a company's founding, applicants have the opportunity to discuss their concepts with high-ranking, technically experienced mentors right from the start and, on this basis, receive support in developing their business plans.
Getting a foot in the door with investors
Applicants, as well as startups founded or in the process of being founded after July 1, 2015, will have access to potential investors during this early phase to discuss financing options. Regardless of when they entered the competition, all business plans submitted by November 30, 2017, will be considered for a spot in the finals.
Chance to pitch
Up to ten promising startups or startup ideas will have the opportunity to present themselves and network at ACHEMA 2018 as part of a startup award booth and a special pitch session. Three overall winners will also receive prize money of €10,000 each.
