From the pit lane to app development – that's how you could briefly describe Mike's career. But that doesn't even begin to do justice to the BLIPhead founder's experiences and achievements. In early 2000, the engineer developed the first racing car for BMW's Formula 1 juniors and just ten years later, one of his protégés, none other than Sebastian Vettel, celebrated his first world championship title.
For the 44-year-old, this time in racing was, as he himself puts it, comparable to the workings of a startup. The only difference was that he didn't have a team at first, but instead fought alone against windmills to realize his visions. At the height of this achievement, however, he didn't consider resting on his laurels; instead, once again chose the uncomfortable path and entered the app development industry – fully aware that many obstacles would await him here as well.
Nothing works without a team
Be Munich IT startup BLIPhead GmbH specializes in mobile apps, innovative websites, and online shops. Its first product was the app sbob.me, and its current focus is on the application SPREYA (“your mobile bulletin board”), which was launched in 2013. After increasing requests for customer projects, the young BLIPhead team, which Mike describes as “crucial and essential for success”, in the fall of 2014, to share his expertise. "The projects are mutually beneficial," says Mike, who has only positive things to say about this expansion of his field of work: "If you focus on one project for too long, you reach the point where you stop being creative. New projects always mean new ideas, which can then be transferred to other projects."
Currently, BLIPhead GmbH has a customer who, according to Mike, came to Munich from Berlin “because there was too much talk there, but nothing was happening.” In general, Munich has a much too bad reputation – even among investors, he believes. the founder, who is still looking for investors for future projects and to advance SPREYAWe wish you much success!
