How to build a media startup: The Media Lab Bayern offers a program for aspiring founders in the media industry. Applications for the second phase are open until August 15.
The high hurdles for participation are Media Entrepreneurship Program Not at all. Applicants initially need nothing more than a business idea. Lina Timm, Program Manager at Media Lab Bayern, says:
"The Entrepreneurship Program is primarily for people who are interested in starting their own project, perhaps even with a vague idea, but who simply don't know how to get started or whether their idea has any merit. We also want to bring together potential co-founders from all sorts of disciplines."
In the second edition of the program, coaches will teach the 25 participants the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. The prospective founders will then work in teams for ten hours per week from September 1 to November 30, 2017. The program is open to developers, web designers, media experts, and business developers. The program aims to deliver mature ideas, concrete market opportunities for the project, and fully formed teams.
Two phases, two deadlines
Following the Media Entrepreneurship Program, participants and their teams can apply for the Media Startup Fellowship apply for the Media Lab Bayern scholarship program.
For the first time, participants from media companies can also register for the program as intrapreneurs. The fee per intrapreneur is €1,900. Media Lab Bayern covers the costs for independent participants. 15 of the 25 places have already been allocated among the applicants in the first phase, which ended June 30. The remaining ten places will go to applicants in the second phase, which runs until August 15.
