In May, KfW announced that it would invest in selected venture capital funds in Germany and Europe. These venture capital funds, in turn, invest directly in young technology companies, thereby strengthening their equity.
Venture capital for companies in the growth phase
The "ERP Venture Capital Fund Investments" funding instrument aims to improve the financing of technology-oriented startups and young, innovative companies in the growth phase. It also aims to close the gap in follow-up financing for young companies in the growth phase.
"With the ERP Venture Capital fund investments, we will make investments of up to EUR 400 million over the next five years. KfW will thus leverage a fund volume of around EUR 2 billion for the venture capital market." said KfW Board member Dr. Ingrid Hengster.
