Moving – who hasn't experienced it, who hasn't been annoyed by it? Making the move as pleasant and hassle-free as possible is the goal of the Munich startup mymovingpartner – formerly movingstar.com – has taken on the task. Founder Federico Drago explains how in our "7 Questions for..." category.
1. Who are you and what do you do? Please briefly introduce yourself and your product!
We, mymovingpartner GmbH, are a young company dedicated to making moving easier. We are founded by two people: Federico Drago and Thomas Wiegelmann, who is not involved in operations.
I, Federico Drago (27), founded Feder-Box GmbH after completing my studies (Political Science with Economics), which is where it all began. At www.feder-box.com, you could conveniently order a specific number of environmentally friendly and robust moving boxes (Feder-Boxes) and have them delivered directly to your doorstep on the desired date. After the move, you could pick them up again.
Since our customers repeatedly wanted to book moving vans, boxes, or even an entire moving company, I came up with the idea of setting up a portal where they could book everything for their move from a single source. It was important to me that all products had transparent pricing and that I could offer established and reputable partners, which is why I partnered with SIXT and confern Möbeltransportbetriebe GmbH.
2. What products do you offer?
Under the heading “Hire a moving company” The professional and certified moving partners of confern – one of the world's largest moving companies – can be booked online at a fixed price. From no-parking zones to furniture assembly and disassembly to packing and unpacking of moving boxes, the move can be planned and calculated down to the last detail. Companies can also receive a customized quote via mymovingpartner.com.
In the category “Move yourself” With mymovingpartner.com, customers can customize a comprehensive moving package at a fixed price. Among other options, they can rent sturdy moving boxes, purchase conventional moving cartons, or hire student moving assistants. With mymovingpartner's volume calculator, customers can also calculate the appropriate van size and then rent the desired van from SIXT – Germany's leading car rental company.
3. But that's been around for a long time!
No. The "Move Yourself" section doesn't exist in this form yet.
When it comes to hiring a moving company, we do have competitors who offer a similar service, but no one can calculate a price as precise as ours. Our price is a fixed price with no additional costs. Furthermore, we are the only provider where the customer immediately knows which company they are booking. With confern Umzugspartner, we have one of Germany's most established moving companies as our partner, who are also the market leaders in corporate relocations.
4. What has been your biggest challenge so far?
The homepage. Each partner integrated with us has its own prices for each service (travel costs, furniture disassembly, box delivery, etc.).
5. What does Munich mean to you?
Munich is my hometown and offers a very high quality of life. It's easy to get to nature and Italy at the same time.
6. How does your startup become the next unicorn?
Unique product with established partners and a very large market.
