NuuEnergy, a Munich-based energy startup founded in 2023, successfully closes a pre-seed financing round worth millions. Investors include the High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), the Business Angel Club Better Ventures – including energy entrepreneur Marco Vogt – as well as EnjoyVenture, Vireo Ventures, and Bynd. The aim of the financing is to accelerate the establishment and expansion of regional specialist trades and further digitize the entire process, from individual planning to installation and maintenance.
The background to the business idea is a pressing problem of the energy transition: The transition to heat pumps has been slow in Germany so far. Reasons for this include unreliable installers, high planning costs, and unclear cost structures. While many digital providers focus primarily on rapid growth and sales, traditional trades often lack the resources for individual consulting and planning.
NuuEnergy positions itself in this area as an integrated provider: The company combines the advantages of digital processes with the customer proximity and expertise of regional craft businesses.
"Our customers want a local contact who will guide them through the entire process – with the highest quality in planning, installation, and service. That's exactly what we offer with our regional operations and digitalized planning,"
explained Tobias Klug, co-founder and CEO of NuuEnergy, explains his company's business model.
Regional craft businesses as the core of the model
At the heart of the business model is the establishment of its own, regionally anchored specialist companies that are fully integrated into NuuEnergy's organizational structure. This vertical integration is intended to enable efficient and customer-oriented mapping of the various process steps – from initial consultation through software-supported planning and funding processing to installation and maintenance.
“We are the answer of the German craft industry to the big digital players who only focus on sales but put quality on the back burner,”
is Julia Rafschneider, co-founder and CRO of NuuEnergy, is sure. She continues:
"Our craftsmen aren't just service providers; they're the heart of our company. They're the experts; they plan, install, and do excellent work—we provide the processes and technology to best support them."
Investors also see this hybrid model as a promising concept for scaling the heat pump market in Germany. Johannes Weber, Principal at HTGF, says:
"Every house is different, and making renovations scalable is a challenge. With NuuEnergy, we see the first compelling solution, working hand in hand with the trades to create a model that will enable millions of homes to convert to heat pumps without compromising on quality."
With the fresh capital, NuuEnergy now intends to further expand its regional structures and at the same time drive forward the digitalization of its processes.
