This year's Science4Life concept awards recognized business concepts in the fields of diagnostics, personalized medicine, and sustainability. The innovative ideas of the award-winning startups demonstrate the tremendous potential offered by the German startup landscape.
Visionary concepts from life sciences and chemistry
The top ten teams from the concept phase of the Science4Life Venture Cup and the top five teams from the Science4Life Energy Cup were given the opportunity to further develop their business concepts during the Academy Days through individual expert coaching sessions and workshops. The top five teams from the life sciences and chemistry sectors, as well as the top three teams from the energy sector, were also awarded cash prizes.
The five winning teams of the Science4Life Venture Cup also include Epicure from Munich. The team has developed carbacitabine (CAB), an active ingredient for the targeted treatment of blood cancer. CAB is capable of overcoming the resistance of existing drugs and offers significantly better tolerability.
Startups for a sustainable energy future
In the area of energy transition, Science4Life also honored three promising startups whose solutions are making a sustainable contribution. Among them: Qkera from Garching. The young company aims to revolutionize battery production with ceramic solid-state electrolytes. These new electrolytes are thin, flexible, and highly conductive, significantly increasing the efficiency and safety of batteries.
Next stage: Business plan phase
The five best teams from the life sciences and chemistry sectors, as well as the three best teams from the energy sector, were not only awarded prize money, but were also given the opportunity to further develop their concepts through expert coaching and workshops.
The final stage of the competition is now starting: interested startups can now register for the business plan phase of the Science4Life Venture Cup 2025. Registration is possible until April 14, 2025.
