#bytevaria talk 3: Even more interesting facts about settling in Bavaria

An article by Invest in Bavaria

The #bytevaria talk is already in its third round – and this time again we are offering exciting and personal insights into the topic of settling in Bavaria.

We'd like to engage in conversation in the rustic and cozy ambiance of our alpine hut in the heart of Bavaria. Two to four times a year, we invite representatives from the Bavarian business community to discuss the following in detail: Where is the Free State ahead of the game? How do you benefit from having a company headquarters in Bavaria? What advantages can investors take advantage of? What opportunities are available to up-and-coming startups? We'd like to introduce you to various projects, showcase initiatives, illuminate the potential and innovative strength of specific industries and technological developments, and also highlight the benefits the Free State's digitalization initiative brings to the economy.

In the first episode, we spoke with Dr. Franz Glatz, the head of the Munich incubator WERK1, who gave us insights into the work of Bavarian technology and startup centers and the resulting opportunities for startups. The second episode also featured a high-profile panel: Together with Dr. Carlos Härtel, CEO of GE in Germany and Austria, we addressed the topic of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things. We explored the challenges and opportunities that advancing digitalization offers companies, especially in Bavaria.

Ideal conditions for FinTech startups in Bavaria

For the third episode, we were once again able to recruit an industry expert. In a sense, this brings together the aspects of the last two episodes, as the topic of the third issue is FinTech startups, which are currently shaking up the financial industry and thus form one of the interfaces between startups and digitalization. They are seizing the opportunities arising from ever-increasing digitalization and are looking for creative approaches to making financial transactions simpler, faster, and more secure.

One representative of the emerging scene is Erik Podzuweit, founder and co-CEO of Scalable Capital – a startup that has been on the market since 2014 and has completed several successful financing roundsIn an interview with Dr. Wolfgang Hübschle, he provides insights into the financial industry, which he also got to know from the perspective of a major player during his time at Goldman Sachs. Find out first-hand in the video about the most exciting developments in the FinTech sector and how traditional banks are dealing with the “attack” of young companies. We also naturally took the opportunity to ask Erik Podzuweit about his experiences as a founder and wanted to know, among other things, what tips he can give startups and why Scalable Capital chose Munich as its base. You will find the answers to these and other questions in the third episode of our video format #bytevaria talk.
