Munich Startup: What does Gallerytalk.io do? What problem do you solve?
Gallerytalk.io: Gallerytalk.io is a digital platform that Artists have their own interactive gallery Many artists struggle with visibility, high exhibition costs, and a lack of direct sales opportunities. Traditional galleries are often difficult to access, and social media is insufficient to adequately present art.
We solve this problem by providing artists with an immersive, customizable, and easily accessible environment in which they can independently present their work, engage with visitors and collectors, and host digital and physical events.
What makes Gallerytalk.io different from other platforms?
Munich Startup: But that's been around for a long time!
Gallerytalk.io: Digital galleries aren't new, but they're often either technically complicated, impersonal, or too tied to the art market. We focus on an intuitive, visually appealing platform that artists can design themselves – similar to a curated exhibition space. We offer community features, benefits like curation, and enable digital events that go beyond a purely online presentation.
Munich Startup: What is your founding story?
Gallerytalk.io: Gallerytalk.io was born out of the conviction that digital spaces can be far more for artists than simple online portfolios. We've experienced firsthand how difficult it is to gain visibility in the art world without being represented in traditional galleries. Furthermore, the social momentum is lacking. Art is best communicated embedded in a social, interactive experience. So we built a platform that combines digital presentation with community and direct interaction—thus creating a new form of art education.
Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?
Gallerytalk.io: A major challenge was to design a digital art presentation that would appeal to both artists and viewers. The technical implementation—such as optimizing for different devices or integrating interactive features—was complex. Furthermore, building an active community is crucial. Targeted marketing and networking strategies help us achieve this.

Growth and future plans
Munich Startup: How are things going?
Gallerytalk.io: Gallerytalk.io is growing continuously: Since its launch in October 2024, over 1,000 artists have registered. More than 10,000 artworks have now been uploaded, and we count several hundred visitors. Our first physical event, an exhibition "From Virtual to Reality" featuring five of our artists in Munich in January 2025, was a huge success, attracting over 90 visitors. We believe this combination of digital presence and real-life events is a concept that, on the one hand, creates new access to the art market and, on the other, has the potential to expand the market itself.
Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?
Gallerytalk.io: Munich has a vibrant art and startup scene, but the combination of both worlds still has room to grow. Thanks to supporters like Kreativ München and programs such as the Wavelab Incubator We have received valuable support and networking opportunities. We see great potential in strengthening the networking of art-tech startups in Munich with established art institutions and companies.
Strategy: outsourcing vs. in-house
Munich Startup: Outsource or do it yourself?
Gallerytalk.io: We rely on a mix: We handle core development, i.e., the platform itself, in-house. This allows us to retain full control over the product. We selectively outsource certain marketing and PR measures to benefit from expert knowledge. It's crucial for us that everything that directly affects users—i.e., the gallery experience—comes from first-hand sources.
