Familymind AI: The AI that reorganizes everyday family life

The Munich-based startup Familymind AI aims to help families better organize their daily lives. The AI-powered platform helps distribute tasks fairly and reduce the mental load of individuals. The startup was founded in 2024 by Rosaria Di Donna, CEO, Mousa Abdelmaksoud, CTO, and Ariane Vogel, CPO. It is currently funded by Exist at TUM and is supported by UnternehmerTUM and Social Impact Republic.

Munich Startup: What does Familymind AI do? What problem does it solve?

Rosaria Di Donna, Co-Founder and CEO of Familymind AI: Familymind AI is the first Platform that helps families organize their daily lives with an AI-powered chatbotTo promote mental health and ensure a fair distribution of responsibilities in everyday family life. The problem: In modern families, a large mental burden often falls on just a few family members. This leads to stress, overwhelm, and often conflict. Our "1-to-family" chatbot promotes a fair distribution of responsibilities, facilitates communication, and helps strengthen family bonds.

Familymind AI goes one step further

Munich Startup: But that's been around for a long time!

Rosaria Di Donna: Indeed, there are apps for task management or calendar sharing. Familymind AI goes one step further: Our chatbot interacts multidimensionally with all family members to flexibly adapt to the family's needs and dynamics. This allows us to offer a personalized, AI-powered solution that understands the unique challenges of modern families and actively reduces mental stress.

Munich Startup: What is your founding story?

Rosaria Di Donna: The idea was born in 2021, when I became a mother myself and faced the challenge of balancing professional commitments with family life. While I initially tried to structure my daily routine with to-do apps, ChatGPT, and WhatsApp groups, I quickly realized that a holistic, intelligent solution was needed. Since June 2024, I have been working on Familymind AI together with Mousa, Ariane, Khaled, and Tavishi, our first employee, and an extended team of tech and family health experts to provide families with precisely this support. Our team was also part of UnternehmerTUM's renowned Digital Product School (DPS, Batch #22) in Munich until December 2024 and is part of the Germany-wide Social Impact Republic. Here, we were able to further develop the product with top experts and an extended team and prepare it for market launch. We have had our first users on the platform since December 2024, and the learning curve couldn't be steeper.

Important for Familymind AI: Ensuring fairness and inclusion

Munich Startup: What have been your biggest challenges so far?

Rosaria Di Donna: Our greatest challenges lie in technical development; especially in developing an AI that truly supports everyday family life while ensuring fairness and inclusion. It is complex to avoid biases in AI that could lead to unfair suggestions – for example, in the distribution of tasks or communication within the family. Our goal is to create a solution that considers and supports all family members equally.

Additionally, protecting privacy and handling sensitive family information is a crucial consideration. Since we work with personal data, we place particular emphasis on maintaining high data protection standards to maintain families' trust in our solution.

B2B partnerships are to be expanded

Munich Startup: How are things going?

Rosaria Di Donna: We're in the midst of building Familymind AI and have already seen strong interest in the early stages of development. We're currently in beta testing, and feedback from families is exceeding our expectations. Our waitlist currently includes more than 250 families eagerly awaiting the release of the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) wait. Since launching our social media presence in October 2024, we have seen an average monthly growth of over 150 percent in the number of followers and reach more than 4,000 people in our target audience.

At the same time, initial partnerships in the B2B sector have been launched. And we are in discussions with potential corporate partners who would like to integrate Familymind AI as part of their work-life balance offerings. Our goal is to secure three corporate partnerships by the end of the year. This will bring Familymind AI to even more families and expand our reach.

Munich Startup: Where would you like to be in one year, where in five years?

Rosary of Women: In one year, we aim to have successfully established Familymind AI on the market and integrated feedback from the beta phase to ensure an optimal user experience. In five years, we aim to become a leader in the family tech space. We want to expand our platform to include certified health offerings to provide holistic support to families in their everyday lives.

Familymind AI benefits from Munich as a strong startup location

Munich Startup: How have you experienced Munich as a startup location so far?

Rosaria Di Donna: Munich is a fantastic location, boasting strong networks, high levels of innovation, and first-class support for startups. We particularly benefit from programs such as the UnternehmerTUM incubator, the Digital Product School, the comprehensive Social Impact Republic, and our ties to Technische Universität München (TUM), where we receive support through EXIST funding. Our collaboration with the Technical University of Munich and our EXIST mentor, Prof. Dr. Pretschner, provides us with valuable scientific expertise that directly informs our product development. This comprehensive support provides our team with the best possible conditions to successfully develop and establish Familymind AI. We feel we are in excellent hands.

Munich Startup: Hidden champion or shooting star?

Rosaria Di Donna: We see ourselves as a rising star! Even in the prime of our product development phase, we're experiencing tremendous interest from families. Inquiries, messages, and feedback show us that Familymind AI is receiving tremendous interest. Strengthening families, promoting mental health, and supporting justice in everyday life – these are our drivers that will drive our long-term growth and make us successful.
