In order to provide the best possible support for social start-ups from the early stages, the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labour and Social Affairs launched the Social Startup Hub Bavaria was launched as the first central, state-funded contact point for aspiring social entrepreneurs throughout Bavaria. The Social Entrepreneurship Akademie was commissioned with the model project, and thus, founders in this field have been supported over the past two years. The pilot project has been permanent since September 1, 2024.
Low-threshold contact point & bundled competencies for Bavarian social entrepreneurs
Ulrike Scharf, the Bavarian State Minister for Family, Labour and Social Affairs, says:
"Social entrepreneurship creates opportunities for our economy and simultaneously serves the well-being of our society. The potential is enormous, and I wholeheartedly support the promotion of social entrepreneurship. It is important that we continue to develop the core of our social entrepreneurship concept – the "Social Startup Hub Bavaria." Founders have a low-threshold contact point, can draw on pooled expertise, and network across Bavaria. And this network in particular has grown rapidly over the past two years. The Social Entrepreneurship Akademie, as the sponsor, is doing unique pioneering work, which we will continue together in the future!"
Over 215 people interested in starting a business have already been advised
As a central contact point for social startups, the Social-Startup-Hub Bayern offers free advice to anyone pursuing a social or ecological goal with their founding. The hub also connects prospective founders and those interested in starting a business with investors, experts, and support services from throughout Bavaria. Even founders who don't primarily see themselves as social entrepreneurs can receive advice to determine whether their idea has the potential to make a social impact. Furthermore, the Social Startup Hub regularly hosts events throughout Bavaria to provide aspiring entrepreneurs with knowledge and tools to further advance their ideas and network with the social entrepreneurship scene.
Over the last two years, more than 215 prospective founders have been supported, advised and networked by Social-Startup-Hub Bayern on their way to a successful social startup, including the Munich startups Enna and Tildi.
