Munich Startup Festival: Consulting, Impact Area and Crafts Meet Tech

The Munich Startup Festival has a lot to offer beyond the main stage. Visitors can expect a wealth of knowledge on funding and impact entrepreneurship on the track bed. It also highlights how skilled trades can support tech companies and startups.

Impact area, know-how for startup support, and craftsmanship meets tech: The Munich Startup Festival, which takes place on July 17 at Backstage in Munich, is packed with action. As with the first Munich Startup Festival, several partners from Munich's startup ecosystem will be present: munich business, the City of Munich's economic development agency, will demonstrate how it supports Munich startups and impact entrepreneurs, and will have numerous experts and network partners present. And the Chamber of Skilled Crafts will demonstrate how craftsmanship and high-tech fit together. Established companies will be present as potential cooperation partners.

Impact Area offers exchange, networking and cooperation

Anyone interested in innovative solutions to social and ecological challenges will find the perfect place in the City of Munich's Impact Area. This is intended to be a forum for exchange, support, and potential collaborations. Birgit Siepmann, Impact Entrepreneurship & Social Innovation Manager at the City of Munich, says:

"Our goal, like last year, is to present social and impact entrepreneurship in an authentic, lively, and exciting way. We want to engage with people and inspire them about the topic."

To provide additional professional expertise, eight different institutions from the social and impact entrepreneurship ecosystem will be on site. Also present: Treesense, Meliodys and Social Guide, three Munich-based impact startups that show how Impact entrepreneurs work and what impact their actions can have on society and the environment.

Additionally, there will be advice on how impact startups can increase their public visibility and implement successful impact management. As a special treat, selected startups that receive advice in the Impact Area will receive vouchers for free impact workshops (on impact measurement and impact management) in fall 2024.

Craftsmanship meets Tech

Some may ask: Why is the Chamber of Crafts at the Munich Startup Festival? This explains Georg Raess, Commissioner for Innovation and Technology at the Chamber of Crafts for Munich and Upper Bavaria, said:

"The Chamber of Crafts sees itself as a competent network partner for craftspeople and for companies that want to collaborate with craft businesses, including startups. We are convinced that there is great potential in the collaboration between craft businesses and startups, which is why we are at the festival."

However, the Chamber isn't the only company represented at the booth. Seven high-tech companies are also present, representing the "Champions League" in the fields of model and mold making, electronics, plastics technology, and precision mechanics, and could be very interesting partners for many startups.

So who should definitely visit the Chamber of Crafts? Räß says:

Any startup looking for manufacturing and development partners for the prototype phase and small series […]. Every year, we also look for startups with innovative solutions for the craft sector for our "Startup Meets Crafts" format. Any startup whose solution addresses SMEs or craft businesses is welcome to present its product to us..“

The following program will take place at the Chamber of Crafts stand in the track bed from 11:45-12:30 and from 14:45-15:30:

11:45 to 11:55 and 14:45 to 14:55: 3 formats for networking between crafts and startups: "Space meets Crafts," "Startup meets Crafts," and "ServusZUKUNFT Hackathon"

11:55 to 12:30 and 14:55 to 15:30: Craft businesses pitch to the startups
